Chapter History

The current organization known as the South Central Texas Chapter of the San Jacinto High Rollers was originally formed in November of 2003 as the Bexar County Chapter.  In August of 2005, we elected to change our name to the South Central Texas chapter in order to better depict the make-up of our membership.

In August of 2004, we held a benefit at Family Tradition in McQueeney, for the St. Jude's Children Ranch.  From this benefit, we were able to present them with a nice donation early in 2005.

In July of 2005, we held our second benefit in La Vernia at the True Blue Roadhouse.  This event benefited a local 8 year old girl who desperately needed money for a life saving medical procedure.  We raised $3000, and donated it to her in September of 2005.

July 2006 founds us raising money for the Martinez Family.  We were able to present them with a check for a little over $3000.00

The First Annual River Rat Run was held in September of 2006.  Since it was our first multi-day event, we were not sure what to expect!  Rain hurt us a little, but we were still able to raise a nice amount of the Children's Advocacy Center of Comal County.

The 2007 River Rat was again held in September at Mountain Breeze Camp.  We had a great turnout, and a very good time was held by all who attended.  Our beneficiary this year was the Guadalupe County Children's Advocacy Center.  With the help of about 600 others, we were able to raise and donate a very nice check in February of 2008.

In December of 2007, we were made aware of a family in New Braunfels who needed some help to give some children a great Christmas.  Our own Choirmaster dressed as Santa, and we all road over and delivered a whole sleigh full of gifts!

April of 2008 was a time for us to take care of one of own.  Choirmaster needed help, and we did what we could to help him get through a rough time.

The 2008 River Rat Run was touch and go for awhile, with Hurricane Ike threatening up to almost the last minute.  But the show must go on.  Although Ike certainly had an impact on attendance, those that were able to make it did not let us down!

Club History

The San Jacinto High Rollers is the oldest AMA motorcycle club in Texas.  It was founded in Pasadena in 1957 and has a very rich history.  The SJHR has supported the Lions Club Crippled Children's Camp in Kerrville, Texas since 1958.  The SJHR makes a yearly trek to Kerrville to present a check on behalf of the SJHR MC every year sometime in July or August.  Our National run raises money for this charity and occasionally chapters donate part of their proceeds from runs to this charity as well.

The San Jacinto High Rollers Motorcycle Club was originally founded in 1957 as an AMA Chartered, non-profit organization to provide assistance for children in need and to improve the public image of motorcycling.
